1000 Lashes for Blogging: Free Raif Badawi
Free Saudi blogger Raif Badawi
Dear Joseph,
ACT RIGHT NOW for a blogger in Saudi Arabia, Raif Badawi, sentenced to 10 years and 1,000 lashes for his peaceful writings. Raif Badawi should be in Canada with his wife and their three children, who have been granted asylum here. Three years ago, authorities arrested Raif Badawi and charged him with insulting Islam and creating the “Saudi Arabian Liberals” website for social and political debate. The charges related to articles Raif wrote criticizing religious figures. >> Take action now to demand freedom for Raif When we campaign for individuals like Raif, we focus on practical, effective action. We get results because our actions are backed up by impartial human rights research. Most importantly, we change lives because we are 7 million people who take injustice personally.
