- Gentle People: I am a semi-invalid pensioner who owns his own home and for the last few years I have taken up gambling in order to pay the high municipal taxes on my property. It has become an addiction and I am losing more than winning to the provincial and federal government controlled lottery games. If I keep it up I will lose my house to the high interest credit card banks. As lottery games are created to extract as much money from gamblers as possible, my chances of winning go from zero to minus 100. Why are both the provincial and federal governments siphoning money from gamblers? Possibly it is to help pay for social services but I'm not certain! Why do governments need so much money they create gambling addicts? Because a small group of very rich people are not paying their fair share of taxes in Canada. The question is how can this small group get away with not paying taxes? Read the following article and find out.
