The NDP political platform. It sounds good.

Tom Mulcair has the experience to bring change to Ottawa and the concrete plan to get Canada on track by helping families get ahead. His plan will strengthen the middle class, grow the economy, and protect the environment.

Creating middle-class jobs

“Creating stable and full-time jobs is the best way to strengthen the middle class and help families get ahead. That will be my focus as your Prime Minister.”
Too many Canadians are struggling to get ahead without access to decent, good-paying jobs.
After 10 years of Stephen Harper, 1.3 million Canadians are out of work — 200,000 more than before the recession. And according to the CIBC, the quality of jobs today is at the lowest level in 20 years.
Tom Mulcair has a concrete plan to strengthen the middle class by creating good job opportunities in every community in Canada.
As Prime Minister, Tom will reward small businesses by lowering the tax rate from 11 to 9 percent. And he’ll kickstart creation of the next generation of good-paying manufacturing jobs by investing in innovation and clean technologies.

Making quality childcare affordable

“As a father, grandfather, and former cabinet minister, I’ve seen firsthand how quality childcare helps families and boosts the economy.”
Parents work hard and sacrifice to give their children the best possible start in life.
After 10 years of Stephen Harper, too many families can’t find affordable childcare. The bill for a single space can be as much as $2,000 a month, and that leaves Canadians struggling to fully participate in the workforce.
Tom Mulcair has a concrete plan to strengthen the middle class and help families get ahead by ensuring quality childcare is affordable for every Canadian family.
As Prime Minister, Tom will create a million childcare spaces for our kids and cap fees for parents – no more than $15 a day. It’s a plan that will save young families money and enable greater participation in the workforce – especially for women.
